Biography
Dr Albert Aralar is a highly experienced ophthalmologist with subspecialty expertise in vitreoretinal surgery, practising at Mater Private Hospital Redland.
He completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland in 1990, followed by ophthalmology specialty training in Queensland, which he completed in 1998.
In 1999, Dr Aralar was awarded the prestigious Bausch and Lomb Bursary, enabling him to undertake further specialist training at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and The Royal Surrey County Hospital.
He then spent two years in Vancouver, Canada, completing dual fellowships at the University of British Columbia, including a postgraduate vitreoretinal fellowship in 2002.
Dr Aralar’s clinical interests include retinal diseases and surgery, with a particular focus on age-related macular degeneration, retinal detachment, macular holes, and diabetic retinopathy.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Aralar holds appointments as a Visiting Medical Officer at Queensland Eye Hospital and serves on the Medical Advisory Committee at Brisbane Day Surgery.
