Biography

Dr Aleksandra Lange is an Associate of the Queensland Cardiovascular Group, and also a Visiting Medical Officer at the Mater Adult Public Hospital. She has special interests in echocardiography, including transthoracic echocardiography, stress echocardiography, and transoesophageal echocardiography. Dr Lange has gained international recognition for her clinical research in congenital and acquired heart disease.

Dr Lange graduated with First Class Honours from the Silesian Medical School in Wroclaw, Poland. She completed advanced cardiology training at the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom. She was awarded the postgraduate degree of Doctor of Medicine by the University of Edinburgh for her thesis 'Three-Dimensional Echocardiography for the Assessment of Congenital and Acquired Heart Disease'.

Dr Lange has pioneered the technique of three-dimensional echocardiography and trained many, now internationally, acclaimed cardiologists in the use of this echocardiographic technique. Her research was in collaboration with a number of prestigious European cardiology centres, and she has published over 40 publications in top world cardiology journals, as well as text book chapters. She regularly reviews cardiology manuscripts submitted for publication to international cardiology journals.

Dr Lange is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, as well as a Fellow of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. She also holds Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Cardiology.
