Inflammatory bowel disease including complex cases, bowel cancer screening and prevention, esophageal disorders (including gastro-oesophageal reflux disease), functional gastrointestinal disorders, liver disease, gastrointestinal bleeding and iron deficiency anaemia, coeliac disease.

Dr Alex Dorrington is a general gastroenterologist with a particular clinical interest in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD).

Dr Dorrington completed his gastroenterology training in Queensland, before embarking on a clinical fellowship in inflammatory bowel disease at Concord Hospital in Sydney, one of Australia’s leading IBD centres. This was followed by an additional postgraduate IBD fellowship at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, under the guidance of world leading IBD clinicians and researchers. Whilst maintaining a particular interest in IBD, Dr Dorrington provides care across the full spectrum of gastrointestinal and liver disease. Dr Dorrington also has an interest in medical education and is actively involved in the teaching and supervision of junior doctors and medical students at the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Dr Dorrington consults within the Gold Coast Centre for Digestive Diseases in Southport. He and his staff take pride in ensuring that all patients receive professional, attentive and compassionate care within a welcoming environment.
