Biography

Dr Andrew McBride is a Queensland-trained orthopaedic surgeon who has interstate and international advanced fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery. He has a particular interest in the management of amateur and professional athletes, and the treatment of arthritis and rotator cuff disease. 

Dr McBride graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from The University of Queensland, before attending the University of Tasmania to complete a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. During this time, Dr McBride worked as a sports physiotherapist for the world championship tour for surfing, and alongside the head physiotherapist for the Australian Olympic Team, Peter Eckhardt. 

Dr McBride completed a shoulder fellowship at the Alps Surgery Institute in France where he focused on arthroscopic shoulder surgery for rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, tendon transfers and shoulder joint replacement. He returned to Australia to undertake advanced training in shoulder, elbow and upper limb surgery under Dr Greg Hoy, before going back to France to complete advanced training in sports shoulder surgery and joint replacement surgery at Santy Orthopaedics with Professor Lionel Neyton. 

Dr McBride continues to have a keen interest in research to ensure his patients are provided with the most up to date information and treatment for their conditions. 

Dr McBride enjoys his active lifestyle on the Gold Coast and feels privileged to be able to contribute to the healthcare of the Queensland and northern New South Wales community.
