Biography
Dr Anna Loch-Wilkinson is an Australian trained Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon based on the Gold Coast and Brisbane. She completed her undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney before attaining her Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), also at the University of Sydney. Upon completing her medical degree and internship, Dr Loch-Wilkinson completed her basic surgical training then initial registrar years in orthopaedic surgery prior to commencing specialist surgical training with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in NSW and Queensland. During her training, Dr Loch-Wilkinson worked at the Sydney Hospital Hand Unit, and the South Western Sydney Hand Unit at Fairfield.
After finishing her specialist training, Dr Loch-Wilkinson completed an International Hand Surgery Fellowship at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital in London (UK) and in Microsurgery & Breast Reconstruction in Bristol (UK). Dr Loch-Wilkinson is one of the only dual-fellowship trained plastic surgeons in QLD. Dr Loch-Wilkinson worked in Bristol and London (UK) as a consultant surgeon prior to returning to Queensland. Dr Loch-Wilkinson currently holds a Consultant Plastic and Hand Surgery appointment at the Mater Public Hospital in Brisbane, as well as working privately on the Gold Coast. In addition to hand surgery, Dr Loch-Wilkinson has an interest in breast and limb reconstruction, facial trauma and skin cancer surgery, and consults for general plastic surgery (non hand surgery) conditions at Southport.
Dr Loch-Wilkinson is internationally recognised for her ground-breaking work on Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) in collaboration with Professor Anand Deva and Macquarie University. She is a reviewer for two international peer-reviewed plastic surgery journals, and continues to be involved in research to help improve plastic and hand surgery outcomes.
