Biography
Dr Berna Venter is a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist consulting and operating at Mater Private Hospital Townsville.
She has more than 25 years of medical experience and close to two decades of specialist experience across tertiary hospitals in both Australia and South Africa.
Dr Venter completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Pretoria in 2000, followed by specialist training in South Africa.
She was awarded Fellowship of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of South Africa (FCOG (SA)) in 2007 and completed a Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, in 2008.
In 2015, Dr Venter attained Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG).
She previously served as Assistant Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Townsville University Hospital, where she played a key role in clinical leadership, service development and quality improvement initiatives.
Dr Venter is widely regarded for her calm, approachable manner and her strong commitment to ensuring patients feel informed, supported and confident throughout their care.
