Biography
Dr Burcu Isler is an infectious diseases physician with 15 years of experience across hospitals in Australia and Europe. She consults from the Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast Specialist Suites in Southport and accepts referrals for adult patients requiring specialist outpatient care.
She completed her PhD in antimicrobial resistance at The University of Queensland and holds academic appointments there and at Griffith University. Her practice spans the breadth of adult infectious diseases, from Q fever and malaria to prosthetic device and implant infection.
Her particular focus is bloodstream infection caused by multidrug-resistant organisms. Dr Isler was recently awarded a Queensland Health Research Fellowship for this work, and sits on the executive committee of the ESCMID Study Group for Bloodstream Infections, Endocarditis and Sepsis.
Her catchment extends across the Gold Coast and northern New South Wales. Clinics are held on Thursdays from 8.30am to 12.00pm, and a current referral addressed to the rooms, or to Dr Isler by name, is required before an appointment can be arranged.
