Biography

Dr Ruth Varrall is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in foot and ankle surgery, who consults and operates at Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton.

Originally from the United Kingdom, Dr Varrall graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2006. She completed her orthopaedic surgical training in the Northeast of England in 2017, before undertaking advanced fellowships in foot and ankle surgery in Melbourne and Sydney.

Dr Varrall is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons of England. She is an active member of several professional organisations, including the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA), American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS), British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS), and the European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS).

She has presented at national and international conferences and has published several articles in peer‑reviewed journals. She is currently the Deputy Chair of the Queensland AOA Regional Training Committee and has played a key role in developing the Far North Queensland Orthopaedic Training Program.

Dr Varrall lives and works in Rockhampton and is committed to providing exceptional clinical orthopaedic care to local and regional patients.
