Biography

Dr Chris Oosthuizen is a specialist ENT, Head and Neck surgeon with a special interest in Nasal and Sinus surgery as well as Paediatric ENT conditions.

He obtained his medical degree from Stellenbosch University, South Africa in 2005 and after completing his Internship, elected to move to Ireland in order to pursue a career in surgery. Here he completed advanced training in ENT, Head and Neck Surgery and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2015. He has also been awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and is registered as a specialist in both Ireland and Australia.

Following his specialist training he undertook a further year of advanced training in Rhinology and Anterior Skull Base Surgery at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. During this time, he gained invaluable experience in the management of all nasal and sinus conditions, including functional Rhinoplasty procedures.

During his training he developed a keen interest in research and has been actively involved in several research projects since. His research is well published and he has also had the opportunity to present his research at both national and international meetings. He is a senior lecturer at the University of Queensland and is actively involved in the teaching of medical students. He is also involved in the training and supervision of registrars within the ENT department at Ipswich Hospital.
