Biography

Originally from the north of England, Dr Chris Wainwright attended medical school in Nottingham before moving to New Zealand in 2000 to train as a specialist orthopaedic surgeon.

Having worked in orthopaedics for more than 20 years, in 30 hospitals across three countries and healthcare systems, he has worked in Australia for over 7 years (initially in New South Wales) and has spent the last four years building a thriving practice in Mackay. Dr Wainwright is trained as a general orthopaedic surgeon with skill in all aspects, with specific interests in shoulder, hip and knee, hand-and-wrist, joint replacements and sports/soft tissue tendon/ligament injury surgery. He also has an interest in inflammatory conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis and gout.

Dr Wainright is dedicated to offering his patients with the latest in digital surgery by using Stryker’s MAKO SmartRobotics for hip and knee partial knee replacement, total knee replacement and total hip replacement. Robotic-assisted procedures are generally less invasive and allow high surgical precision.
