Biography

Though born in Sydney, Dr Christian Connors has primarily resided in Mackay since his early teens. Following completion of secondary studies at St Patricks College Mackay he attended the University of Queensland, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 2011.

His intern year was spent in various Queensland regional centres before relocating to the Townsville University Hospital to pursue his surgical training. That training was completed in Townsville, Cairns and Mackay and finally the Royal Brisbane Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital Brisbane.

Dr Connors attributes his early years in Sydney and his formative years in regional Queensland to his worldview and his professional ethos – that every patient must receive equal quality medical attention regardless of where they choose to live.

Dr Connors was awarded his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) prior to accepting a post as staff general surgeon at Mackay Base Hospital. For the last 9 years he has shared that role with his demanding schedule in private practice. During this term he also fulfilled the requirements for the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) in Endoscopy and Colonoscopy.

Outside of work, Dr Connors enjoys both domestic and international travel, along with the many opportunities and benefits of life in the Mackay Whitsunday region. He is a keen angler, SCUBA diver, general sporting enthusiast and active community member. He also derives great satisfaction from his role with James Cook University (JCU) educating medical students and teaching skills to surgical registrars.
