Biography

Dr Christopher Bell is an experienced Queensland-trained orthopaedic surgeon specialising in the treatment of shoulder, knee and sports-related conditions, operating at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane.

Dr Bell specialises in contemporary procedures including robotic-assisted knee surgery, arthroscopic shoulder and knee reconstruction, and accelerated rehabilitation protocols if surgery is required.

He is an accomplished surgical leader working across Queensland Health and the Australian Army and is dedicated to helping patients of all ages and backgrounds to return to pain-free movement, which he believes is fundamental to health, wellbeing and quality of life.

Dr Bell was awarded a Fellowship at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2014, before completing subspecialist training in shoulder, knee, and sports injuries completing an Australian Orthopaedic Association accredited Fellowship in Brisbane.

Following several international visitations throughout the United States and France, Dr Bell commenced as a staff specialist at the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital, Orthopaedic Department treating thousands of patients with a wide variety of acute, chronic, and emergency orthopaedic conditions.

Fulfilling multiple leadership positions including Director of Orthopaedics, Director of Training, Director Surgical Services and Director Medical Services. During this time, he obtained a Master of Health Administration and an Associate Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators.

Dr Bell served for 15 years in the Australian Army and held several leadership appointments over this time including Senior Medical Officer 11th Brigade and Orthopaedic Lead 3rd Health Support Battalion. He was deployed to Ukraine and Iraq, working as senior orthopaedic surgeon with the Dutch and US military forces respectively.

Dr Bell works with his patients to ensure they understand their condition and provides clear guidance on the best course of treatment, whether that be non-operative or operative. He is committed to providing the highest quality, evidence-based care at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane.
