Biography
Dr David Kingston is an experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon providing consultation and surgical care across metropolitan Brisbane and regional Queensland including Mater Private Hospital Townsville.
Dr Kingston attained his Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from The University of Queensland. Following his graduation, he worked extensively as a junior doctor across metropolitan, regional, and rural Queensland hospitals.
He subsequently undertook comprehensive specialist training in orthopaedic surgery and hand surgery in Queensland and New South Wales, complemented by additional advanced training internationally.
Dr Kingston is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA). He is an active member of the Queensland Hand Surgery Society, the Australian Hand Surgery Society, and the Australian Orthopaedic Trauma Society, and serves as a faculty member of the AO Trauma Foundation.
He holds academic appointments with The University of Queensland and James Cook University, where he is involved in teaching medical students and contributing to clinical research.
Dr Kingston has a particular interest in the care of musicians with orthopaedic conditions. His understanding of the physical and functional demands placed on musicians is informed by his own experience in playing and teaching music, enabling a tailored and empathetic approach to treatment.
He is strongly committed to improving access to high-quality orthopaedic care for patients in regional and rural Australia and believes they should receive the same standard of care as those in major metropolitan centres.
Dr Kingston’s practice prioritises evidence-based medicine, with a strong emphasis on patient education. He prioritises shared decision-making, ensuring patients are well informed and actively involved in developing their individual treatment plans.
