Post-medical or surgical reconditioning, spasticity assessment and management, chronic pain, musculoskeletal, neurological, and post-joint replacement pain, orthopaedic injury or trauma, brain or spinal cord injury, post-spinal surgery (including fusion and laminectomy), neurological conditions (including Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s Disease), post-cardiac surgery or illness, stroke, prolonged hospitalisation and medical conditions requiring rehabilitation.

Dr Deepa Iyer is an experienced rehabilitation medicine physician dedicated to delivering comprehensive, patient-centred care at Mater Private Hospital Redland. She has extensive international and domestic training across the scope of rehabilitation medicine to support patients with a range of complex conditions.

Dr Iyer completed her initial medical training in India before undertaking her specialist general medical, rehabilitation medicine and rheumatology training in the UK, where she attained Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP).

She completed advanced subspecialty training in rehabilitation medicine upon moving to Australia, where she was awarded fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (FAFRM) with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Dr Iyer also holds accreditation in the injection of botulinum toxins, utilising this for the comprehensive assessment and management of spasticity.

Currently, Dr Iyer holds leadership roles across the public and private healthcare sector, including the Princess Alexandra Hospital and Robina Persistent Pain Centre. In addition to her clinical experience, Dr Iyer is the author of two UK medical examination textbooks and has contributed to a range of research papers in peer-reviewed journals. Academically, Dr she is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Bond University, senior lecturer at Griffith University and lecturer at The University of Queensland.
