Biography
Dr Emma Sganzerla is an Australian-trained geriatrician and general physician accepting outpatient referrals for specialist geriatric care at Mater Private Hospital Townsville.
Dr Sganzerla completed her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 2013 at James Cook University. Following this, she completed basic physician training and advanced general and geriatric medicine training at Townsville University Hospital.
After several years in South East Queensland gaining further experience in major metropolitan hospitals, Dr Sganzerla returned to Townsville in 2023 and obtained a dual fellowship in general and geriatric medicine.
Dr Sganzerla is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine and Internal Medicine Society of Australia and New Zealand.
She has supported patients across a wide range of geriatric medicine issues including dementia, frailty, falls and management of complex medical issues in elderly patients. Dr Sganzerla offers comprehensive geriatric assessments and works with patients and their families to ensure patient centred care.
Outside of work, Dr Sganzerla enjoys spending time with her husband and young children. She looks forward to working collaboratively with patients, their families, and their GPs to deliver the best outcomes at Mater Private Hospital Townsville.
