Dr Ferdinand Ong is a specialist colorectal and general surgeon with a focus on minimally invasive surgical techniques.   

Dr Ong area of expertise include benign and malignant colorectal conditions, as well as general surgery pathologies. He also performs diagnostic and interventional endoscopy services (gastroscopy and colonoscopy).   

He obtained his Bachelor of Medical Studies and Doctor of Medicine with distinction at the University of New South Wales.

Dr Ong undertook advanced surgical training based in major Sydney hospitals and completed his fellowship in General Surgery.    

He completed his three years of sub-specialty colorectal surgical training through well-recognised, high-volume centres at St George Hospital and Gosford Hospital in NSW, and the Princess Alexandra Hospital in QLD.    

Dr Ong obtained his Master of Surgery from the University of Sydney, is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), a member of General Surgeons Australia (GSA) and accredited by the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA).  

Throughout his career, Dr Ong has maintained a strong passion for education and research. He holds a senior lecturer position with The University of Queensland and Griffith University medical school.   

He is actively involved in the teaching, supervision and examination of medical students and surgical trainees.   

Dr Ong is widely published in international peer-reviewed journals and has presented at national and international conferences on his specialty field of colorectal surgery.
