Biography
Dr Griff (Robert) Walker graduated from the University of Queensland in 1999. In 2009, following completion of his core gastroenterology training and a 12-month fellowship in interventional endoscopy, Dr Walker obtained his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). Dr Walker commenced work as a Staff Specialist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital before embarking on a further 12-month fellowship in 2010 at the Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina, USA. During this time he focused on pancreaticobiliary disease while obtaining further experience in ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound.
Dr Walker returned to Australia in August 2011 and has been a consultant gastroenterologist at the Gold Coast University Hospital and has been practicing at Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast since 2012.
Dr Walker’s interests include general gastroenterology and inflammatory bowel disease. He has a special interest in interventional endoscopy including, endoscopic mucosal resection of large polyps and dysplastic Barrett’s oesophagus, ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound. He is also actively involved in training junior medical staff, nursing staff and medical students at the Gold Coast University Hospital.
Dr Walker is more than happy to be contacted by GPs and other specialists to discuss patients and/or organise consultation or admission to Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast. He offers a full range of endoscopic procedures including open access gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
