Biography
Dr Guy Hingston is a General Surgeon consulting locally and operating at Mater Private Hospital Mackay.
Since 2003, Dr Hingston operated a busy surgical clinic serving the New South Wales North Coast communities, providing comprehensive breast and general surgical services. He relocated to the Mackay region in 2022 and brings nearly three decades of specialist surgical experience, with a strong focus on breast surgery and surgical oncology, breast reduction surgery, and screening colonoscopy.
Dr Hingston completed his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in Brisbane in 1997 and subsequently sub‑specialised in breast surgery. He became a full member of the RACS Breast Section in 1998 and is a foundation member of BreastSurgANZ.
He undertook further specialist training as a Fellow in Breast Surgery at St Mark’s Breast Centre where he gained extensive experience in breast reduction surgery and pioneered the introduction of sentinel lymph node biopsy for breast cancer into New Zealand. He later advanced this work as the Lister Fellow at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, contributing to research in sentinel node biopsy and its role in breast cancer management.
