Biography
Dr Heshani Mediwake is a dual-trained clinical and laboratory haematologist with a strong interest in lymphoma, thrombosis, and allogeneic stem cell transplantation. She provides expert care across a wide range of haematological conditions, consulting privately at Mater Cancer Care Centres in South Brisbane, Springfield and Redland.
Dr Mediwake graduated from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, in 2008 and completed her basic physician training at Toowoomba Base Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital in Queensland.
Between 2015 to 2018, Dr Mediwake undertook dual advanced training in clinical and laboratory haematology at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital, gaining comprehensive expertise in both diagnostic and therapeutic haematology.
She is a Fellow of both the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA).
In 2019, Dr Mediwake completed a clinical and research fellowship in haematology and bone marrow transplantation at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, further strengthening her expertise in complex haematological care.
Her research has been published in both local and international journals, with a focus on lymphoma, thrombosis, and stem cell transplantation.
Dr Mediwake is currently the Director of Clinical Haematology at Mater Hospital Brisbane.
