Biography

Dr Jamie McKenzie is an upper limb orthopaedic surgeon, operating at Mater Private Hospital Springfield.  

He is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and fellowship trained in Hand and Wrist surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane and Ganga Hospital Microsurgical centre. 

Dr McKenzie specialises in hand and wrist Surgery. He has a Postgraduate Diploma in Hand and Wrist Surgery. He is a member of the Australian Hand Society, British society for Surgery of the Hand and the Federation of European Societies for the Surgery of the Hand.   

He sits on the trauma committee, raising standards team (GIRFT - Getting it right the first time), co-authoring the Guidelines for Hand/Wrist injuries. He reviews the research projects for the International Federation for surgery of the Hand and has published and presented nationally and internationally. 

Dr McKenzie is an independent medical examiner providing expert opinions and medical negligence reports in orthopaedic cases and a clinical lecturer at The University of Queensland. 

He is a member of the Humanitarian Aid Fellowship Edinburgh, UK med and Commonwealth services abroad team providing humanitarian medical aid in conflict and disasters in Sri Lanka, Belize and the Maldives. He has worked as an expedition medic/leader in Svalbard and South America. 

Dr McKenzie consults weekly in the sessional suites at the Mater Health Hub Springfield and is accepting new private patients.
