Dr Johannes Wittmann

Viral hepatitis; endoscopy; and colonoscopy

Dr Wittmann is a part-time staff specialist and Director of Gastroenterology at the Mater Hospital Brisbane and is the only gastroenterologist at the Mater Hospital Brisbane practicing interventional ERCP for non-insured patients. His private practice is based at the Mater Private Hospital Brisbane. Services provided by Dr Wittmann include endoluminal stenting, ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound, upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy and general gastroenterology and hepatology care.

With support from the Mater Administration to expand the available range of health care services on the campus, Dr Wittmann established the endoscopic ultrasound service on Brisbane’s South Side and now the public hospital can provide this valuable technology as a cost-effective, patient friendly and tolerable way to biopsy or treat many mediastinal, GI and pancreatic lesions on a day-case basis, enhancing the Mater Health's diagnostic, oncology and research activities.

Dr Wittmann sees private patients via Mater Hill Gastroenterology, in level 2 of the Salmon Building, located onsite at Mater in at South Brisbane.
