Dr John Gunn

Paediatrics

Dr John Gunn was born and raised in Brisbane. He attended school and university here and graduated from the University of Queensland medical school in 2005. John has spent subsequent years working in paediatrics at the Royal Children's Hospital, Brisbane and also in several of the units in peripheral towns around Queensland. He also spent a year at the Alice Springs Hospital in the Northern Territory looking after indigenous children. He has experience in ICU and acute medicine for babies and also older children.

John enjoys all aspects of child health (age 0-18 years) with a special interest in newborn medicine. He believes that the cornerstone of his job is to have the whole family and health team on the same page. Communication is key and a new diagnosis or treatment is difficult if the family does not fully understand the problem at hand.

John is a Paedicare Paediatrician who provides newborn services at Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane and specialist private paediatric services from the Salmon Building on the Mater South Brisbane campus.
