Biography
Dr Kate Strawson is an experienced obstetrician and gynaecologist who is passionate about empowering women to understand their bodies and make informed decisions that best reflect their individual needs, family dynamics, and lifestyles.
Dr Strawson has extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery, including the removal of endometriosis and laparoscopic hysterectomies, and manages all aspects of a woman’s health from adolescence through childbearing years and into menopause.
Dr Strawson provides preconception care and management of abnormal pap smears and colposcopy, with a special interest in adolescent gynaecology and pelvic pain management.
She is experienced managing high-risk pregnancies, including those involving VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), multiple pregnancies, preterm birth, and pregnancies complicated by medical comorbidities and provides comprehensive maternity care in collaboration with specialist teams to achieve the best outcomes.
Dr Strawson offers holistic evidence-based care designed to ease the challenges and uncertainties that many expectant mothers and their partners face, with the goal of helping families to embrace the joy of pregnancy while feeling fully supported along the way.
Dr Strawson also serves in a public capacity at both the Mater Mothers' Hospital and Mater Hospital Springfield, and holds a Senior Lecturer position at the University of Queensland.
