Dr Katie Christensen

Katie is an approachable and compassionate gynaecologist and laparoscopic surgeon who enjoys providing care for women for a broad range of gynaecological issues across the lifespan.

She is renowned for her thorough and holistic care, and has a particular interest in complex surgical procedures, endometriosis and pelvic pain. With an additional fellowship in minimally invasive surgery, Katie offers a full range of surgical and non-surgical care for conditions such as endometriosis, ovarian cysts, fibroids, laparoscopic hysterectomy, perimenopause and menopause, cervical abnormalities, menstrual dysfunction, pelvic pain, caesarean scar niche and infertility. She does not provide IVF and will refer on to an expert if this is required.

Katie is a Queensland local who completed her medical studies at the University of Queensland. She completed specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology whilst working across a range of regional and tertiary hospital settings including Mater Mothers’ Hospital, Ipswich Hospital and Cairns Hospital. During her advanced training years, her focus areas were complex gynaecological surgery, gynaecology oncology, adolescent gynaecology and persistent pelvic pain. She also completed a Masters in Health Management at the University of New South Wales during this time. After obtaining her FRANZCOG, she chose to continue developing her surgical skillset by completing an Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery (AGES) Laparoscopic Fellowship in Brisbane. Katie is an accredited Level 6 (6-B) laparoscopic surgeon as per RANZCOG/AGES classification and credentialing. Level 6 describes the highest level of complexity for laparoscopic surgery.

When she’s not working, Katie is a devoted mum and loves getting outdoors with her family. Her warm and friendly approach puts her patients at ease and creates a safe environment to discuss any issue.

Katie holds a public appointment at QEII Jubilee Hospital and consults privately in the Salmon Building at Mater in South Brisbane. She offers surgical care at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane.
