Biography
Dr Leisa Barrett is a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist consulting and operating at Mater Private Hospital Redland.
Dr Barrett has extensive experience in diagnostic gastroenterology, hepatology and inflammatory bowel disease. She commenced her gastroenterology training at Mater before completing advanced training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, where she undertook a dedicated year in hepatology and liver transplantation.
Drawn to gastroenterology for its blend of internal medicine, procedural practice, physiology and anatomy, Dr Barrett has developed expertise in chronic liver disease, with a special interest in abdominal liver conditions.
She is dedicated to providing continuity of care and building supportive relationships with patients managing chronic illness.
Looking ahead, Dr Barrett is focused on advancing therapy for viral hepatitis, seeing emerging pharmacotherapies for nonalcoholic liver disease, and improving understanding of functional bowel disorders.
