Neonatal, abdominal, colorectal, genitourinary and laparoscopic paediatric
surgical conditions

Dr Liesel Porrett is a Paediatric Surgeon at Mater Children’s Private Hospital, providing expert surgical care for infants, children and adolescents.

Dr Porrett obtained her medical degree from James Cook University and completed her junior medical and general surgical training in Townsville. She subsequently pursued specialist paediatric surgical training, undertaking rotations at leading Australian hospitals including Queensland Children's Hospital and The Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne.

Dr Porrett has interests in general paediatric surgical conditions, but also neonatal, abdominal, colorectal and genitourinary conditions, including the care of children with complex colorectal and urological disorders.

She completed subspecialty training with the Colorectal and Pelvic Reconstructive Service at The Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, and a Paediatric, Neonatal and Burns Surgery Fellowship at Queensland Children's Hospital, with a focus on colorectal and genitourinary surgery.

Dr Porrett has also undertaken international training in the United States of America, working alongside leading paediatric colorectal, pelvic and urological surgical teams at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, Children’s National, Washington DC and Seattle Children’s Hospital, Washington. 

She is a Fellow of Royal Australian College of Surgeons and a member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Paediatric Surgeons and the Society of Paediatric Urology of New Zealand and Australia. Her expertise has been recognised through competitive training and travel fellowships awarded by the Royal Australian College of Surgeons.
