Biography
Dr Lee Yang is a neurosurgeon and spine surgeon with a particular focus on keyhole and complex spine surgery, including degenerative conditions, tumours, trauma, infection and deformity; advanced neurovascular surgery, including brain aneurysms, brain bypass, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) and dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs); deep brain stimulation surgery for Parkinson’s disease; and all aspects of brain, spine and peripheral nerve surgery.
Dr Yang undertook advanced training in neurosurgery and spine surgery at preeminent centres around Australia before obtaining Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Melbourne. He then completed fellowships in keyhole and complex spine surgery and advanced neurovascular surgery at Royal North Shore Hospital, North Shore Private Hospital and Sydney Adventist Hospital in Sydney.
Dr Yang has gained experience in cutting-edge neurosurgery at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, United States of America and Shanghai Clinical Centre of Neurosurgery in China, one of the world’s largest leading neurosurgical centres, where he had visiting fellowship appointments.
An Assistant Professor at Bond University School of Medicine, he is also actively involved in neurosurgical and spine research through Gold Coast University Hospital. He has received multiple awards for his spine research, including the Rob Johnston Award from Spine Society of Australia and Smith & Nephew Award from Cairns Society of Australia.
Dr Yang currently operates at Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast and Gold Coast University Hospital, providing patients with a personalised, comprehensive treatment program.
