Biography
Dr Malin Dahanayake is an experienced physician with more than 15 years of clinical experience across acute, inpatient, outpatient and emergency settings, consulting at Mater Private Hospital Mackay.
Dr Dahanayake obtained his Doctorate in General Medicine from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, in 2014 and was awarded board certification as a consultant physician in 2016. He then worked as a physician in Sri Lanka, providing comprehensive care for patients with a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions, while also contributing to clinical leadership, teaching and supervision of junior medical staff. Dr Dahanayake then returned to Australia and obtained a fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).
His clinical practice encompasses a broad range of general medical conditions, with experience in the assessment and management of complex and undifferentiated medical presentations. Dr Dahanayake is committed to evidence-based, patient-centred care and works closely with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive and coordinated medical care.
Dr Dahanayake has a passion for medical education and teaching. In his roles as adjunct senior lecturer at James Cook University and senior staff specialist in general medicine at Mackay Base Hospital, he contributes to the education and development of medical students and junior doctors. He is also committed to maintaining high standards of clinical practice through ongoing continuing professional development.
