Endocrine surgery (thyroid and parathyroid surgery (with nerve monitoring), adrenal and paraganglioma surgery, management of hereditary endocrine neoplasia syndromes); upper gastrointestinal surgery (oesophageal and gastric surgery, anti‑reflux procedures and bariatric surgery (sleeve gastrectomy, mini gastric bypass (one-anastomosis), Roux-en-Y), and broad general surgical practice.
Biography
Dr Man-Shun Wong is a general surgeon with advanced training in upper gastrointestinal and endocrine surgery consulting and operating at Mater Private Hospital Mackay.
Dr Wong completed his Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery at The University of Queensland in 2007 before gaining his fellowship to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2016.
During his fellowship, Dr Wong gained extensive expertise in oesophageal, gastric, and bariatric procedures at Gold Coast University Hospital, before undertaking further subspecialty training at the Royal North Shore Hospital, where he was selected for the prestigious international TS Reeve Fellowship in endocrine surgery.
Dr Wong performs bariatric surgeries including gastric sleeve, single anastomosis (mini) bypass, and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedures. He also performs hernia repairs and specialises in thyroid surgery.
Dr Wong is actively involved in surgical education. He is a senior CCrISP instructor with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a senior lecturer at The University of Queensland. He has presented internationally, published research, and received the best clinical research prize at the Annual Scientific Conference. He is also a serving member of the Australian Army as a Medical Doctor.
