Biography

Dr Margaret-Louise (Margie) Scanlon is a Gynaecologist consulting and operating at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane.

Dr Scanlon provides specialist assessment and management for a wide range of gynaecological concerns including but not limited to perimenopause and menopause, family planning, management of cervical and vulval dysplasia, ovarian cysts and pelvic pain. She has a special interest in hysteroscopic surgery and the use of endometrial ablation for heavy menstrual bleeding and colposcopy.

She holds a medical degree from James Cook University. She completed dual training with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, practicing as a Rural Generalist General Practice Obstetrician in Cape York before pursuing specialist obstetrics and gynaecology training.

Now a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG), she has spent more than a decade training and practising throughout Southeast and Central Queensland.

Her approach to care is grounded in clear explanations, patient centred decision making and a whole of health perspective shaped by her earlier career in General Practice.

Dr Scanlon has joined her colleagues at Gynaecology and Oncology Group (GYON), offering benign gynaecology services within a comprehensive, all female practice. The team provides wholistic gynaecological care, from routine outpatient management to advanced surgery for benign and malignant conditions.
