Dr Mark Thompson

Dr Mark Thompson was the second gastroenterologist to arrive on the Gold Coast in early 1985. Since that time, he has provided a comprehensive service in gastroenterology covering both the Gold Coast and northern New South Wales. His principal clinical interests remain in diagnostic and interventional gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy and colonoscopy, including screening programs for colorectal cancer and Barrett’s oesophagus.

During his career on the Gold Coast, Dr Thompson has developed and operated both Pacific Private Hospital and Tweed Day Surgery. He is currently the Managing Director of Gold Coast Endoscopy, which provides comprehensive gastroenterology consultion and GI endoscopy services across the Gold Coast and northern New South Wales. More recently, Dr Thompson has also led the development of major projects, including the Centre of Excellence in Endoscopy.

Dr Thompson is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and an accredited GI endoscopist with the Gastroenterological Society of Australia. He currently performs GI endoscopy procedures at Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast.
