Biography

Dr Matthew Hourigan, member of Queensland Haemotology and Oncology Group, has commenced private practice at Mater Private Hospital Redland.

Dr Hourigan is a graduate of the University of Queensland’s School of Medicine (1999). He completed specialist training in clinical haematology at Princess Alexandra Hospital and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.  His Fellowship at University College Hospital focused primarily on state-of-the-art therapy for malignant bone marrow disorders, including autologous, allogeneic and reduced-intensity allogeneic (‘mini’) stem cell transplantation.  University College Hospital is a prestigious institution and Dr Hourigan worked alongside acknowledged leaders in the field of malignant haematology.

Dr Hourigan is available for all specialist haematology consultations, including:

  • Lymphoma/Leukaemia/Myeloma
  • Monoclonal gammopathies
  • Anaemia and iron deficiency
  • Clotting and bleeding disorders
  • Haemochromatosis
  • Abnormal blood counts and cytopenias
