Biography

Dr Melissa Day is a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Mater Private Hospital Townsville providing comprehensive care for gastrointestinal and liver conditions.

Dr Day completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at The University of Queensland in 2016, after graduating with distinction in Applied Science (Biochemistry and Biotechnology) from QUT.

Her specialist gastroenterology training was undertaken across Far North Queensland, including advanced training at Townsville University Hospital and Cairns Base Hospital, with additional experience at Sunshine Coast University Hospital and several regional centres.

Dr Day completed a hepatology fellowship at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane, gaining advanced expertise in transplant hepatology and the management of complex liver disease.

She delivers gastroscopy, colonoscopy and general gastroenterology consultations, and has an interest in hepatology, liver-directed palliative care and supporting patients with advanced liver disease.

Dr Day is committed to accessible, high‑quality care for the North Queensland community and works collaboratively with general practitioners to deliver clear, practical, patient‑centred management plans.
