Clinical Interests

ACL and multi-ligament knee reconstruction, anterior approach hip resurfacing for sports injuries, robotic-assisted and custom joint replacements of the hip (muscle sparing direct anterior approach), knee (partial and total – muscle sparing medial subvastus approach), and shoulder, as well as minimally invasive reconstruction of the hip, knee, shoulder, elbow and ankle. 

Biography

Dr Michael Millar is an orthopaedic specialist with expertise in reconstructive and sports surgery, consulting and operating at Mater Private Hospital Mackay. 

Dr Millar graduated with Honours from the University of Sydney and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and Australian Orthopaedic Association (FAOrthA). 

He has completed advanced fellowship training in robotic-assisted surgery, complex joint reconstruction, and innovative non-operative techniques that promote faster healing and recovery.  

Dr Millar has a special interest in managing complex sports injuries, including joint and tendon damage, cartilage restoration, and ligament repair.  

His personalised approach supports patients to achieve their sporting best and long-term mobility.
