Biography
Dr Mike Thomas has been a Gold Coast-based orthopaedic surgeon since 2007. He maintains a busy clinical practice while also serving as the current Clinical Deputy Director and former Clinical Director of Orthopaedics and Trauma Services for Gold Coast Hospital and Health Services.
Dr Thomas is currently Chair of the Queensland Directors of Orthopaedics Group. He is also Co-Chair of the Queensland Surgical Services Clinical Network and the Surgery and Perioperative Advisory Group for Queensland Health. An Honorary Adjunct Assistant Professor at Bond University’s School of Medicine, his research into upper limb conditions has been presented and published nationally and internationally.
Dr Thomas has a particular clinical interest in hand and upper limb surgery, including trauma, joint replacement and arthroscopic surgery. He has performed independent medical assessments for many years, particularly for the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, and is a certified impairment rater.
