Dr Naveed Ahmed is an experienced nephrologist specialising in renal medicine and hypertension providing comprehensive, patient-centred care at Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton for patients with kidney disease and complex renal conditions.

Dr Ahmed graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Bangalore University, India, before relocating to New Zealand. During this time, he completed his fellowship in internal medicine and nephrology through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

Dr Ahmed was a consultant nephrologist at Auckland’s North Shore Hospital where he managed a broad range of renal conditions and contributed to clinical education, leadership, and the supervision of junior doctors. He further advanced his expertise by completing a Master of Perioperative Medicine at Monash University, strengthening his ability to manage medically complex perioperative patients.

Currently a senior consultant at Rockhampton Hospital, Dr Ahmed provides care across the full spectrum of nephrology, including acute and chronic kidney disease, dialysis, transplantation, glomerular disease, and complex hypertension.

He is also involved in clinical research and service development, with a focus on improving kidney care and expanding access to clinical trials. Dr Ahmed is also a senior lecturer at Central Queensland University, contributing to medical education and the training of future healthcare professionals.
