Dr Whitworth is a locally trained orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in surgery of the lower limb for degenerative (arthritic) and sports conditions. 

Dr Whitworth completed Orthopaedic surgical training in Queensland. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and a Member of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA). Dr Whitworth holds a public appointment at Gold Coast Health where he is Deputy Director of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr Whitworth trained in hip and knee arthroplasty with esteemed surgeons both in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast and undertook a further knee fellowship at Epworth in Melbourne under the supervision of internationally renowned knee surgeon Professor Julian Feller, prior to returning to the Gold Coast with his young family in 2024.

Growing up on the Victorian coast and completing undergraduate studies at The University of Melbourne, Dr Whitworth then completed medical school at the University of Queensland in 2012. He trained surgically throughout Queensland, and enjoys contributing to the ongoing education of medical students, orthopaedic registrars, and fellows in hip, knee and trauma surgery at Gold Coast University Hospital. Dr Whitworth maintains an active interest in orthopaedic research though recent publications in peer reviewed journals and attending and presenting at national meetings.

Dr Whitworth utilises intra-operative robotics and other technologies with the aim of achieving the best possible outcomes for his patients. He will take a personal approach to your care and will work collaboratively with the anaesthetic team, nursing staff and allied health team with a focus on optimising your care.
