Specialises in the surgical management of women with confirmed or suspected gynaecological malignancy and complex benign gynaecological conditions. Her special interests include radical abdominal surgery, minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopic and robotic), and the use of intra-peritoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for ovarian cancer.

Biography

Dr Nisha Jagasia is an experienced Gynaecological Oncologist, bringing exceptional surgical expertise and a deeply compassionate approach to the care of women facing gynaecological cancer.

Dr Jagasia received her Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) in 2012. She subsequently completed a two-year fellowship in Advanced Gynaecological Laparoscopy at Mercy Hospital for Women (Melbourne), followed by the three-year Gynaecological Oncology sub-specialisation through the Royal Women's Hospital (Melbourne) and the Royal Brisbane and Women's and Mater Hospitals (Brisbane), which she completed in 2016.

Her training is further complemented by a fellowship in General and Colorectal Surgery and a Graduate Diploma in Palliative Care (Flinders University). In 2019, Dr Jagasia completed a fellowship at the renowned National Peritoneal Malignancy Institute in Dublin, Ireland — where she worked as part of a specialist team caring for patients with advanced colorectal, appendiceal and gynaecological malignancies requiring cytoreductive surgery and Heated Intra-Peritoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC).

Dr Jagasia has developed expertise across the full spectrum of gynaecological cancer surgery, from complex radical abdominal procedures to advanced minimally invasive surgery using both laparoscopic and robotic techniques. She is committed to offering the best approach for each patient's individual circumstances, with the aim of optimising oncological outcomes and quality of recovery.

Dr Jagasia practices as a Staff Specialist Gynaecological Oncologist at Mater Hospital Brisbane and is a Senior Lecturer at The University of Queensland and is actively involved in the education of medical students and trainees.

She is a member of the Queensland Centre for Gynaecological Cancer Research (QCGC) and has published in peer-reviewed journals on research in sentinel lymph node assessment in endometrial cancer and ovarian cancer surgery.

Dr Nisha Jagasia consults on both malignant and complex benign gynaecological conditions from Mater Private Clinic in South Brisbane and performs surgery at Mater Private Hospital, Brisbane.
