Biography

Dr Paul Tuckett is an Orthopaedic Surgeon consulting at Mater Private Hospital Townville, with a clinical focus on the treatment and repair of sporting injuries. He specialises in knee and shoulder reconstruction and arthroplasty, and manages the full spectrum of general
orthopaedic trauma including hip, hand, wrist, and elbow surgery. Dr Tuckett is among a select group of orthopaedic surgeons in Australia performing robotic shoulder surgery. Before pursuing medicine, Dr Tuckett completed a degree in Physiotherapy at The University of Queensland and worked as a sports physiotherapist. His interest in the surgical management of the injuries he was seeing as a physiotherapist inspired him to transition into specialist medicine.

Dr Tuckett graduated with Honours in Medicine from The University of Queensland in 2014. He undertook his junior medical training across major metropolitan and regional hospitals
throughout Queensland.

He completed his orthopaedic surgery training in 2025, followed by a fellowship in shoulder
reconstruction and arthroplasty, under the mentorship of leading Townsville surgeon Dr Levi
Morse in early 2026.

In addition to his surgical qualifications, Dr Tuckett holds a Masters of Traumatology
(Orthopaedics) from The University of Newcastle.

Dr Tuckett has a strong interest in outreach medicine and is part of a multidisciplinary team
that travel to Papua New Guinea annually to support and upskill local surgeons.
