Biography
Dr Peter Simos is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) specialising in Infectious Diseases. Prior to completing his medical degree on the Gold Coast at Bond University, Dr Simos graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Science from QUT and worked as a diagnostic Medical Scientist at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital—establishing a strong foundation in laboratory pathology and clinical microbiology.
He completed specialist physician and advanced fellowship training across Queensland’s leading tertiary hospitals, including dedicated subspecialty experience in sexual health and HIV medicine at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. Dr Simos has special interests in bloodstream infections, infective endocarditis, and multidrug-resistant pathogens. He founded the Gold Coast Diabetic Foot Multidisciplinary Clinic and serves as Principal Investigator on Australasian multicentre platform trials investigating Staphylococcus aureus (SNAP trial) and early oral step-down therapy for Gram-negative bacteraemia.
Holding academic teaching appointments across Bond University, Griffith University, and The University of Queensland, Dr Simos currently accepts referrals for adult patients requiring specialist inpatient consultation and outpatient management of complex infections across the Gold Coast and Northern New South Wales.
