Biography
Dr Ridzwan Namazie is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in upper limb, hand and trauma surgery, operating at Mater Private Hospital Redland.
Dr Namazie originally from Malaysia was awarded the prestigious Public Services Scholarship to study medicine at the National University of Ireland in Galway before completing his medical degree there.
After basic surgical training in Ireland, he then completed his orthopaedic training in New Zealand, followed by an observership with the eminent Professor Alessandro Castagna at Istituto Clinico Humanitas in Milan in Italy.
Dr Namazie finished his subspecialty fellowship training in upper limb and hand surgery at the Gold Coast University Hospital, followed by a shoulder fellowship at the Australian Shoulder Research Institute in Brisbane.
He is actively involved in research and has won awards for this work, including the Linscheid-Dobyns Excellence in Wrist Surgery Award, presented by the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
Dr Namazie also contributed to research at the Queensland Unit for Advanced Shoulder Research located at Queensland University of Technology and has previously held an appointment as a Conjoined Research Fellow between the University of Queensland and the Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS).
He has had several articles published in peer-reviewed journals including a book chapter.
Dr Namazie is a fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
