Biography

Dr Roger Watson (MBBS, FRACS Urol), is a Visiting Consultant Urologist at the Mater Private Hospital Brisbane, Mater Hospital Brisbane, and Greenslopes Private Hospital, in Brisbane, with a special interest in urological oncology and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

After completing urological specialty training in Brisbane in 1993, he undertook further training in the United Kingdom (Reconstructive Urology Fellowship at Guy’s Hospital, London) and the USA (Urological Oncology Fellowship at the University of Miami, Florida).

Since his return to Brisbane in 1996, he has continued to develop his subspecialty interest in the diagnosis and management of urological cancer, particularly bladder, prostate and kidney cancer. This has included further training in laparoscopic renal surgery, prostate brachytherapy and robotic radical prostatectomy. He has a clinical practice in adult urology, which includes all prostate disease, such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). He has undergone further training in the use of the Greenlight laser as a management option for BPH.

He was a collaborative author on the most recent ‘International Urological Disease Classification Consensus Statement on Bladder Cancer Management.’ Research interests include clinical and basic science aspects of bladder, prostate and kidney cancer.
