Dr Samapriya (Pasan) Hewawasam

General gastroenterology and hepatology, functional gut disorders including irritable bowel syndrome (IBD), oesophageal motility and reflux disorders and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and colonoscopy.

Dr Hewawasam is an experienced Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with dual board certification in both Australia and Sri Lanka.

Dr Hewawasam completed his MBBS with Honours from the University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka in 2002, followed by a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2009.

He then undertook advanced training in Gastroenterology in Sri Lanka, gaining invaluable experience before pursuing a fellowship year at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, Australia.

After returning to Sri Lanka, he practiced as a board-certified Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist. In 2020, Dr Hewawasam returned to Australia, where he was accepted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2021, further solidifying his expertise and commitment to high standards in gastroenterology and hepatology.

Dr Hewawasam prioritises patient-centred care, working closely with patients to develop tailored treatment plans.
