Biography

Dr Shivanthi Kandiah is a General and Endocrine Surgeon who consults and operates at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane and Mater Private Hospital Redland.

Dr Kandiah completed her undergraduate medical training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in the United Kingdom (UK)with her initial postgraduate surgical training years in England and Malaysia.

Completing her Royal Australasian College of Surgeons General Surgical training in Queensland, Dr Kandiah then undertook a Fellowship in Head and Neck Endocrine Surgery at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney.

Dr Kandiah subsequently completed the Royal College of Surgeons England Thyroid and Parathyroid Fellowship at Royal Berkshire Hospital, UK and worked as an Emergency General Surgery Consultant at St James’ University Hospital in Leeds.

Remaining in the United Kingdom, Dr Kandiah became an Emergency General Surgery Consultant at St James’s University Hospital, Leeds, in 2021.

Since returning to Queensland, Dr Kandiah was appointed Staff Specialist in General and Endocrine Surgery at Metro South hospitals, Brisbane and is a senior lecturer at The University of Queensland.
