Biography
Dr Tom Moloney is an ophthalmologist specialising in retinal and macular diseases, vitreoretinal surgery and cataract surgery.
Dr Moloney’s clinical interests include macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, diabetic eye disease, cataract surgery and vitreoretinal surgery for retinal detachment, macular hole, epiretinal membrane and ocular trauma.
Dr Moloney studied Medicine at the University of Queensland then completed specialist ophthalmology training in Queensland. He then undertook the Medical Retina and Uveitis Fellowship at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and subsequently returned to Brisbane to complete the Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowship at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He has also undertaken additional international vitreoretinal/uveitis training at Vitreous Retina Macula Consultants of New York and the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. He was awarded the RANZCO Topham Scholarship to support his fellowship training in North America and the United Kingdom.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, a member of both the American Society of Retinal Specialists and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retinal Specialists (ANZSRS) and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
