Biography
After graduating from the University of Queensland Medical School, Dr Tony Lai underwent cardiology training at The Prince Charles Hospital, Townsville and Gold Coast Hospitals. In 2009 he was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and in 2012, as a Fellow of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand.
Advancing in his cardiac experience at the prestigious McMaster University in Canada, Dr Lai completed a two year fellowship in interventional cardiology and cardiac CT angiography.
He has performed over 3,000 invasive coronary angiographies' and over 1,300 percutaneous coronary interventions, including complex percutaneous coronary interventions such as chronic total occlusion intervention, rotational atherectomy, and left main coronary artery intervention. He was also trained in PFO closures, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) assessment and percutaneous aortic balloon valvuloplasty.
