After completing medical school in North Queensland, Dr Venu Bhamidi (Bhamidipaty) undertook advanced vascular surgical training through several leading institutions in Perth; Melbourne; Auckland, New Zealand; and Toronto, Canada. He subsequently returned to Auckland where he worked as a vascular and endovascular surgeon at Auckland City Hospital and as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland. After almost a decade in Auckland, Dr Bhamidi was recruited to Gold Coast University Hospital in 2020, allowing him to be closer to his extended family in Australia.

Dr Bhamidi’s clinical practice encompasses all aspects of vascular surgery, including open and minimally invasive endovascular therapies for carotid, aortic, and upper and lower limb vascular disease, as well as endovenous treatment of varicose veins. He has a particular clinical interest in complex endovascular treatment of aortic aneurysms and diabetic peripheral arterial disease and foot wounds.

Dr Bhamidi has a strong academic interest, having authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and contributed book chapters. He previously served as Assistant Specialty Editor (Vascular Surgery) for the ANZ Journal of Surgery. He has also been an invited proctor and mentor at hospitals throughout Southeast Asia and has participated as a principal investigator, co-principal investigator and sub-investigator in international registries and research trials. Dr Bhamidi is committed to delivering patient-centred, value-based healthcare.
