Tumours of the brain and spine; Skull base surgery (including acoustic neuromas, trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasm, glossopharyngeal neuralgia and pituitary tumours); Functional neurosurgery (including epilepsy and movement disorders ); Degenerative and complex spine conditions (including traumatic injuries, disc prolapse, spinal stenosis, spinal instability and cervical disc replacement); Vascular neurosurgery (cerebral aneurysms); Peripheral nerve conditions, such as entrapments (carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar neuropathy and common peroneal nerve palsy) and tumours.

Biography

Dr Wayne Ng is a Specialist Neurosurgeon on the Gold Coast and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Neurosurgery. He is a Board Member of the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia (NSA).

Dr Ng has undertaken neurosurgical training across Queensland, Melbourne, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, bringing broad clinical experience to his practice. He holds a PhD in Neuro-oncology from the University of Melbourne, a Fellowship in Skull Base Surgery through the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences, and a Fellowship in Neurosurgery with a focus on complex spine surgery, epilepsy and functional neurosurgery at Austin Hospital, Victoria.

Dr Ng has clinical interests in spinal surgery, neuro-oncology, skull base surgery and peripheral nerve conditions. He provides comprehensive assessment and surgical management of conditions affecting the brain, spine and peripheral nerves with a focus on safe, evidence-based care and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Dr Ng is a Staff Specialist Neurosurgeon at Gold Coast University Hospital and consults and operates at both Gold Coast University Hospital and Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast. He is an Associate Professor at Griffith University, where he contributes to medical education, research and the development of future neurosurgeons.

Dr Ng is also involved with the NSA Examinations Committee and the Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation Scientific Committee. His research interests include brain tumour stem cells, spinal trauma, spinal cord injury, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS), skull base pathology and neuro-oncology.
