Dr William Talbot

Biography

Dr William Talbot is a comprehensive Ophthalmologist in Townsville. He trained as a comprehensive Ophthalmologist in New Zealand, obtaining Fellowships with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and the Royal Australian College of Surgeons.  Dr Talbot is also a member of the Australian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and has completed a post-graduate subspecialty Fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Oculoplastics in the United Kingdom. Dr Talbot has a special interest in small incision cataract surgery, glaucoma, diabetes, and the retina.

Outside of work, Dr Talbot enjoys mountain bike riding, sailing with his three sons, and shopping with his daughter. He and his family are also keen winter sport enthusiasts, and on occasion are able to ski and snowboard together.

Dr Talbot also loves to travel and experience other cultures and people’s ways of life. This interest has led him to spend time doing eye care in numerous developing countries, including Polynesia and Uzbekistan. He is also proud to travel to Papua New Guinea annually as part of an Australian Aid organisation. In the future, Dr Talbot is keen to continue to do more work in this area.
