Biography
Dr Wojciech Szubert is a highly skilled gynaecologist with expertise in advanced minimally invasive surgery, endometriosis, pelvic pain and the management of complex pelvic conditions, consulting and operating at Mater Private Hospital Mackay.
Dr Szubert graduated from the Pomeranian Medical University in Poland, then earned his Medical Doctorate (MD) from the University of Edinburgh, where he focused his research on chronic pelvic pain. This continues to inform his approach to the diagnosis and management of endometriosis and other pelvic pain conditions.
After completing specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Scotland, Dr Szubert completed a two-year fellowship at an accredited endometriosis centre in Norwich, England, earning qualifications from the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (RCOG, UK) in advanced laparoscopic gynaecological surgery.
He holds Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery Society (AGES) Level 6B accreditation for surgical complexity in gynaecological procedures, enabling him to perform advanced laparoscopic surgery for severe endometriosis and other complex pelvic conditions
Dr Szubert is an active member of the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery Society (AGES) and the World Endometriosis Society.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Szubert is a Senior Lecturer at James Cook University, Townsville where he contributes to educating and mentoring future medical professionals.
He provides compassionate, patient-centred, evidence-based care informed by current best practice in gynaecology and minimally invasive surgery. He leads multidisciplinary endometriosis and pelvic pain teams in Mackay across private and public healthcare services.
Dr Szubert is committed to improving awareness of endometriosis and access to specialist women's healthcare across regional Queensland.
